The CARES project is short for Counseling, Assistance, Resources, Empathy, and Support. The project is designed to support students experiencing or observing bullying behaviors by offering counseling through an experimental chatbot. Bullying affects approximately 30% of students around the world with around 10% experiencing bullying on a daily basis. The long-term effects of bullying can be severe and can include depression, anxiety, and mental health issues. Traditional counseling services are not always accessible and the CARES project aims to provide support to students who may not have access to traditional counseling services.
Cara, the chatbot, is experimental and under active development. We encourage you to provide feedback on your experience with Cara and suggestions for improvement. You can provide feedback by emailing us at support@caracares.ai. If you are an academic, educator, engineer, designer, or have other skills that might help improve Cara, please get in touch.
At this time, Cara is still for research only. It is not yet ready for real world interventions.
